Dance is studied at Key stage 3 on a carousel basis with Drama. It is also offered at GCSE and students follow the AQA course. The study of Dance allows students to develop their skills in creating, performing and evaluating and the lessons encompass these aspects and skills.

Key Stage 3

The SOW in KS3 dance form a basis for study at GCSE (Create, Technique, Perform and Evaluate) and will fall under the umbrella of the Arts fundamental skills. Introduction to Dance will introduce students to the basic constituent features of Dance: Action, Space, Dynamics, Relationships. These features are explored in greater depth as students move through the lessons/SOW. Students will complete 4 six week SOWs in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9. There is also an after school Dance club for KS3 students, enabling students the opportunity to perform.
