Year 9 Swimming Success
Congratulations to year 9 student Bethany Levett who has been having some great successes with her swimming. Bethany competed for the first time at the ASA National Summer Championships in August last year in Sheffield, She took part in both the 50free and 100free multi-disability categories, she achieved 301 British disability points for her 50 free getting over 300 for the first time.
She also represented England East at the 2016 School Games at Loughborough University in early September, this was her second year of being selected and Bethany was the youngest on the team. The 2016 School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age.
In October she competed at the ASA East Regional para-swimming meet, winning 1 gold and 3 silver medals.
Finally she competed at the national para-swimming championship in Manchester. Here Bethany came home with 5 medals (3 silver for 100 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 2 bronze for 50 free and 200IM). She entered 5 races and achieved 3 personal bests for her 100 freestyle 1:29.49, 50freestyle 41:06 and 100 back 1:43.74.
